Short-tailed cat breeds

Some breeds have a short, kinked or even missing tail because of natural mutations. The list includes the Manx, Cymric, Japanese Bobtail, Kurilian Bobtail, American Bobtail and Pixie-bob.

How the breeds were chosen

We included breeds in which a short tail is a breed trait. The mutations differ: in the Manx and the Cymric the gene can cause spine problems, while in the Japanese Bobtail it is not linked to such problems.
