Amphibians
Amphibians are vertebrates whose body temperature depends mainly on their surroundings. Many spend different stages of their lives in water and on land, though life cycles vary.
What are amphibians?
Frogs, salamanders and newts are familiar examples. Many have aquatic larvae with gills and adults that use lungs and their moist skin for gas exchange. Some amphibians skip the larval stage, and some never develop lungs.
