Protected animals of Romania

Romania has valuable wildlife, including animals that are rare, vulnerable or important for nature conservation. Responsible wildlife observation avoids disturbing animals and their habitats.

Which protected or conservation-important animals live in Romania?

Examples include the European bison, lynx, wolf, brown bear, otter, wildcat, chamois, red deer, white stork, crane and eagles. Conservation needs differ between species, and so does their legal protection status.
