Molossers and mastiffs

Molossers are massive dogs with a large head and a powerful body, used over time for guarding, fighting, draught work and rescue. This list includes the Great Dane, Cane Corso, English Mastiff, Boxer, Rottweiler and Saint Bernard, among others.

How the breeds were chosen

The list includes the “molossoid” section of FCI Group 2, which covers both the mastiff type (mastiffs and bulldogs) and the mountain type (massive flock guardians, such as the Caucasian Shepherd Dog). We also added a few bulldog and mastiff breeds not recognised by the FCI, such as the Boerboel or the American Bully.
