Birds

Birds are feathered vertebrates. Depending on the species, they fly, walk or swim, and take many roles in food webs, including pollination, predation and seed dispersal.

What are birds?

Birds belong to the class Aves. They produce body heat internally, have bills and lay eggs. Their wings are used differently between species, and not every bird can fly.

Examples include vultures, owls, swallows, penguins and parrots. Birds occur on every continent, from polar regions to tropical forests.
